The musicians’ shows may have a fun-loving, party atmosphere, but they also entertain for good causes. According to its bio, the band was approached so often to perform for charity events that the bandmates came up with an idea to invite many local charities to become part of one annual event and raise money through ticket sales. The first Rusty Ball in 2008 sold more than 1,000 tickets and raised $85,000 for 56 charities. Since then, the Spirit of Cincinnatus’ collaborative model has raised nearly $1.5 million for Cincinnati’s charitable community.
