— Batesville Police Department officers recently arrested two local juveniles, reported Chief Stan Holt Feb. 28.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, at around 8:30 p.m. Officer Blake Roope and Sgt. Danny Hamilton responded to a report of two suspicious vehicles near the Hillindale Commons boat ramp.

Holt said, “After locating the vehicles, Hamilton’s K-9 partner, Jinx, alerted on both of them, indicating the presence of narcotics.” A search revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia in both.

The drivers, ages 16 and 17, were taken to BPD and released to their parents.

Charging information for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia was forwarded to Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel.
