Free fun at Batesville library

— Four free and open-to-the-public events are planned at the Batesville Memorial Public Library in May. Registration is required for the first three by stopping by or calling the library at 934-4706.

“More Than Dinosaurs: Hoosier Fossils for Beginners” is the topic Thursday, May 9, at 4 p.m. Paleontologist-in-the-making Betsy Herbert will share the fascinating story of Indiana’s fossils with second- and third-graders.

The annual Adult Tea Party is slated for Thursday, May 16, at 2 p.m. Charlotte Battin will portray early radio and TV star Gracie Allen during “Afternoon Tea with Gracie.” The event is sponsored by Friends of BMPL.

The Cincinnati Kinderballet presents “Thumbelina” Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m. at the Batesville Middle School Commons. Refreshments will be served. The program is sponsored by Friends of BMPL with support from the library.

The BMPL After Hours Concert Series continues Saturday, May 18, at 7 p.m. with the Batesville debut of Cincinnati’s Yayoi and New Brazil. The two-hour show features multicultural music influenced by Brazilian, Japanese, American jazz and eclectic world beats.
