Indiana State Police, the Milan Police Department, Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office and Ripley County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of a Milan woman, said Sgt. Noel Houze, ISP Versailles District public information officer.
According to investigators, at about 1 a.m. Dec. 30 a family member called 911 reporting they had found Nancy Hershman, 68, Milan, deceased in her home at 607 West Ellis St.
An autopsy was performed Dec. 31 on the woman. “The Ripley County Coroner’s Office has ruled the incident a homicide,” he said. “At this time, investigators are not releasing any details as to how Mrs. Hershman was killed.”
Investigators are requesting assistance from the public. Anyone who may live in the area near the scene or who may have been driving through the area between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Dec. 30 who may have seen any suspicious vehicles, anyone walking or running in the area or any other suspicious activity is urged to contact the ISP Versailles Post at 800-566-6704 or 812-689-5000.
