BATESVILLE — Three Batesville residents have been arrested, one for armed robbery and two others for theft, according to police Chief Stan Holt.

On Oct. 10, Batesville police officers arrested Dewell Zach Kirby, 27, for allegedly robbing Save On Tobacco.

About 12:40 p.m. Feb. 10, 2009, police received a 911 call from the store clerk reporting that the suspect ordered him to the ground while holding a sharp object and stole money.

"Recent developments in the case led investigators to focus in on Kirby," the chief said.

Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel filed armed robbery, a Class B felony, and theft, a Class D felony, charges against Kirby. He is being held at the Ripley County Jail.

On Aug. 16, the Batesville Police Department received a report of a car stolen from a residence on West Pearl Street. It was recovered Aug. 21 in Cincinnati, where it was found abandoned along the road.

After an investigation, the case was submitted to Hertel, who filed charges against Quincy Collier, 18, and Miranda Foley, 22. Collier was charged with auto theft, a Class D felony, and Foley is charged with conspiracy to commit theft, a Class D felony.

Both were arrested Oct. 10 and are being held in the Ripley County Jail.
