Two raffles will raise money for the department. One has big cash prizes: first, $1,000; second, $250; third and fourth, $100; and fifth, $50. The other is for an Amish quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
They were mailed out to Batesville citizens and can be returned to the firehouse, police station or fest, where more will be available.
Krause encourages the public to attend the family-oriented event “to support the fire department and have a good time.”
Proceeds help offset costs for equipment and training, according to Chief Todd Schutte.
The department consists of 25 firefighters and 22 emergency medical technicians, he says. Persons interested in joining may call him at 934-2230.
