Persons walking along Big Cedar Creek close to Cedar Grove discovered human skeletal remains near the creek’s edge Sunday, April 7, at about 11 a.m., reported Indiana State Police Sgt. Noel Houze, Versailles District public information officer.
“Investigators were at the scene most of the day yesterday searching the area for other clues.”
The remains were collected by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office and taken to the Hamilton County (Ohio) Coroner’s Office April 8 for DNA and other forensic testing.
According to Houze, “At this point, it has not been determined whether the remains are that of male or female, adult or child, how long they may have been at the location or a cause of death. The identification process could take several weeks.”
Also assisting at the scene were Indiana Conservation Officers and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies.
