BATESVILLE —

The Rev. Thomas Frey will be installed as the new pastor at St. John Lutheran Church, Hubbells Corner, Sunday, April 6. Area friends and neighbors, as well as members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Southeastern Indiana conference, are welcome and encouraged to attend the installation service at 1:30 p.m., said member Dolores Fuchs.

Pastor Jeff Iacobazzi, representing the ECLA Indiana-Kentucky Synod, will lead the special service. He is currently serving Emanuel Lutheran Church, Greendale.

Frey will be the St. John congregation’s 24th pastor since the church was established in 1833.

He was born into the congregation and grew up in the Sunman area after his father, the Rev. Paul Frey, answered a call as pastor to St. John in 1947. The elder Frey, who is fondly remembered by church and community members, accepted a call to Jenera, Ohio, in 1965, having served St. John for 18 years.

While working through the call process this past year, Thomas Frey has shared that in a lot of ways he feels he was coming home. Frey and his wife, Linda, are moving into the Sunman area from Gillette, Wyo., where he has served at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
