---- —

A Batesville woman was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at her residence, reports Batesville Police Chief Stan Holt.

On Aug. 4, officers executed a search warrant at Samantha Siegle's residence, 105 Hillenbrand Avenue. Officers located hypodermic syringes and heroin. Siegle, 21, was not home at the time of the search but was subsequently located Friday, Aug. 9 in Batesville and taken into custody.

She is charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of a controlled substance, both Class D felonies. She was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail. The investigation was conducted by Sgt. Danny Hamilton and Officer Mike Manus.

A traffic stop Aug. 11 resulted in multiple drug charges for another Batesville woman.

About 1:30 a.m., Officer Chris Smith stopped a vehicle on State Road 46 for a traffic violation. During the stop, Smith suspected there may be drugs in the vehicle and called for Sgt. Danny Hamilton and his K-9 partner, Jinx. The dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of drugs. A search revealed heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Jocelyn Hunter, 34, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, and possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanors. She was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail.

"If the drug dealers and users haven't gotten the message yet, they will. The Batesville Police, along with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, will continue to aggressively target individuals that bring illegal drugs into our community," Holt noted.
