An attempted burglary occurred at 17447 St. Mary’s Road, Batesville, March 14 at 8:57 a.m., said Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jason Lovins.

According to him, "It was reported that a male subject tried to get in the door of the residence, but was scared away by the homeowner. The male subject got into a blue van and was last seen en route toward the Batesville area."

Sheriff Ken Murphy encourages citizens to report suspicious vehicles, persons, and/or activities to FCSD. Lovins suggested, "If possible, try to obtain clothing and physical descriptions of suspicious acting persons, vehicle descriptions, including license plate numbers of suspicious vehicles. Cellular telephones provide a convenient way to photograph or video such activity."

The incident is still under investigation by Deputy Ryan McQueen. Anyone with information can call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department at 765-647-4138.
