Christopher Aune began working as a staff writer, with an emphasis on sports, at The Herald-Tribune July 7.
Managing editor Debbie Blank notes, “Christopher is an experienced writer with 13 years as an award-winning reporter and photojournalist for U.S. Air Force newspapers. We are so happy he has decided to join our writing staff, which also includes assistant editor Diane Raver.”
The new reporter said, “I was looking for fun, and for me that is being involved in the community and writing about it.”
Aune, who grew up in Perryville, Missouri, holds three degrees, a master’s in agency counseling from Indiana State University; a bachelor’s in social psychology from Park University, Missouri; and an associate’s in public affairs from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
He also has worked as a consultant, interim pastor and therapist.
“The Simple Way of Jesus,” the certified life coach’s first book, was published in 2013. At the time, the author explained, “I wanted to empower and encourage pastors to focus on what Jesus really teaches, and I felt a book would do that.”
The 15-year Batesville resident and wife Chi have four children and 10 grandchildren.
Aune is writing his second book, and enjoys an occasional home improvement project, as well as growing a small garden and small grandchildren.
