Residential sales lagging

The Batesville Herald-Tribune

---- — With 13 homes sold in June in the Batesville Community School Corp. district compared to 19 in June 2012, sales totalled $2.17 million, substantially lower than the $3.68 million in that month a year ago, reports Countryside Realty broker Jim Dreyer, who analyzed Southeastern Indiana Board of Realtors® Multiple Listing Service data.

“Year-to-date sales are $8.28 million compared to 2012 year-to-date of $10.85 million. That is $2.57 million or 23.7 percent behind last year. This month’s results pushed us further behind 2012 year to date,” he noted.

The number of homes listed for sale decreased to 70 compared to 71 at the end of May. In the past 12 months, 106 homes have sold in the BCSC district, according to Dreyer.

He pointed out, “Interest rates continue to be very favorable, but on June 27 the 30-year rate jumped substantially to 4.5 percent. If you want to take advantage of these rates, don’t wait to buy your house.”
