---- —

Three Batesville residents have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery, said Batesville Police Department Chief Stan Holt.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, at about 6:30 p.m., Batesville officers responded to a residence at Village in the Woods apartments on Tekulve Avenue after a report of an armed robbery.

According to the chief, "The victim, a 44-year-old male, reported he was awakened in his bedroom by a male suspect armed with a knife. The victim was forced into the living room of the residence, where he observed a second suspect, also armed with a knife."

The suspects demanded money and the victim's car keys, then fled the residence, leaving in the victim's 2001 Ford Focus.

The man recognized the suspects as acquaintances of his 15-year-old daughter. Holt reported, "The victim's daughter fled the residence with the male suspects and was later determined to be involved in the robbery."

The suspects were spotted approximately 30 minutes later by Decatur County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Blodgett, traveling westbound on I-74 and getting off at the Greensburg exit. Following a vehicle pursuit, all three were taken into custody.

Arrested were Angel Camarena, 18, a male; along with a 16-year-old male; and the victim's daughter.

All three are facing charges of armed robbery and criminal confinement, Class B felonies; along with auto theft and theft, Class D felonies.

The minors were taken to the Cedarbridge juvenile detention facility, Muncie, while Camarena is being held in the Decatur County Jail on additional charges of resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, a Class D felony; and reckless driving, a Class B misdemeanor.

The chief reminds, "All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
