Chelsea Eckstein has been appointed the new Sunman clerk-treasurer. She will replace Kris Schneider, who resigned Nov. 21.
Ginger Bradford, Ripley County Republican Party chairperson, reports she had about four applicants for the position.
She chose Eckstein because she's a "very nice, friendly girl. She's energized and anxious to help the public."
Kiersten Libby, Versailles clerk-treasurer, and Indiana State Board of Accounts officials will help her as she takes over the job, Hartman notes.
Eckstein, a 2009 East Central High School graduate, who studied business management and finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, currently works at United Community Bank, Aurora. Her first full day with the town will be Monday, Dec. 9.
"When I was approached about the position and the job described to me, I was kind of hesitant at first because it's an elected position, but then I realized I already had the skills needed from things I learned at the bank," she reveals.
The young lady, who married Ben Eckstein in October, is looking forward "to meeting people throughout the town." She invites residents to stop by the town hall and come in and meet her.
"Being appointed to this position is one of the proudest moments of my life. Not many people get that opportunity .... I'm so lucky, and I'm looking forward to this new challenge."
In addition, she emphasizes, "I'm passionate about community events, and I hope I can really go in there and get involved."
