Batesville police arrested a local man in connection with a recent burglary, reports Chief Stan Holt.
On Sept. 19, officers responded to McNair Manor Apartments on Tekulve Avenue to investigate a break-in at the maintenance office. The suspect stole several items, including a drill and miscellaneous tools. On Sept. 25, officers were called to Keep it Clean car wash, also on Tekulve Avenue, where someone attempted to gain access into the money machine by using a drill.
After following up on multiple leads, a suspect was identified and arrested Oct. 1 in connection with both incidents. Elijah Paul, 34, Batesville, was charged with burglary of a structure, a Class C felony; theft, a Class D felony; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor. He was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail.
The investigation was led by Detective Blake Roope, who was assisted by several Batesville police officers.
