---- — Batesville police arrested an Indianapolis man on drug charges following a traffic stop.

"On Thursday, Sept. 26, Sgt. Danny Hamilton stopped a vehicle on I-74 near the Batesville exit for a minor traffic violation," reported Police Chief Stan Holt.

Hamilton's K-9 partner Jinx alerted on the vehicle, which indicated the presence of drugs. A search revealed various types of pills. The driver, Greg Bennet, 50, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony.

Bennet was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail, Versailles. Holt reminded, "Suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
