Resident granted permission to put up mailbox

SUNMAN – Dennis Larkins, Sunman, wants a mailbox at his home instead of going to the post office to pick up mail.

For the past six months, he has asked town council members about that possibility.

Cluster mailboxes, which could be installed by the town in the vicinity of that street, were discussed. Clerk-treasurer Kris Schneider sent out a letter and survey to about 40 affected residences in May, asking for feedback. However, only two or three were in favor of unit mailboxes, so members decided not to move forward with that.

Larkins noted, “I want the option to put up my mailbox since the postmaster said mail could be delivered (to his residence), but I have to have permission from council .... This costs you nothing.”

Members unanimously agreed to allow him to put up a mailbox at his residence.

Halloween schedule • Sunman's trick or treat hours will be Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m.
