---- — Interested citizens are invited to attend a re-building Main Street planning session Wednesday, March 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sherman House, announces community development director Sarah Lamping.

Input is needed to identify ways in which to redevelop and revitalize Batesville’s downtown area. The meeting’s goal is to begin the process of re-building the Batesville Main Street program.

“Batesville Main Street is a designated Indiana Main Street Community. The Indiana Main Street Program is under the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, which is part of the Lieutenant Governor’s Family of Business. Shae Kmicikewycz, who is our regional community liaison with the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, will help in facilitating our planning session.

“Ideas, suggestions and input will help determine the projects to work on that are most important to the community. During this session, we will also talk about volunteer opportunities within Batesville and ways that we can collaborate to make our downtown a destination,” she reveals.
