February is 4-H Month, reports Angie Riffle, Franklin County extension educator.
Throughout the month, members, volunteers and extension office staff will be visiting all Franklin County elementary schools to promote 4-H to the youth in the community. The organization is open to all youth in grades 3-12, and Mini 4-H is for those in grades 1-2.
4-H teaches important life skills through hands-on learning and participation in various projects, events and activities. Projects range from aerospace to livestock to scrapbooking and woodworking.
“We will be hosting a 4-H Enrollment Night Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Franklin County Government Center Room 102,” Riffle notes.
Youngsters can sign up online at four-h.purdue.edu/enroll. Forms are also available through the extension office, schools, libraries or local club leaders. They are due by Friday, March 1.
