---- — Batesville residents who have materials too large to fit in a trash can or heavier than 75 pounds may have them picked up by Rumpke on six Saturdays in 2014: Jan. 4, March 8, May 10, July 19, Sept. 6 and Nov. 8.
These collections will start at 5 a.m., so citizens are encouraged to set their disposable items out the evening before.
Acceptable items include clothing; furniture, bedsprings and mattresses; rugs and carpet pieces; rubber hose; appliances; wood, bundled 4 feet or shorter, 75 pounds maximum; insulation; cans and buckets, totally cleaned and dry; paint cans containing dried paint only.
Refrigerators, air-conditioning units and freezers are required to have stickers showing chlorofluorocarbons were removed by a certified person. This includes units without compressors. If there is no sticker, the unit will be rejected.
Unacceptable items include electronic devices containing mercury, such as TVs, computers, microwaves, cell phones; building and construction materials, such as bricks; remodeling materials; landscape materials; car body parts, including wheels and tires; steel or metal framing; tree limbs, grass clippings and leaves.
