Six thefts reported last month

---- — The Batesville Police Department’s CrimeStar Law Enforcement Records Management System reported 39 primary offense incidents in January. The highest number was thefts at six, followed by domestic disputes and mischief incidents, three each.

Several categories had two incidents each: child abuse or neglect, operator never licensed, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, operating while intoxicated (prior), warrant service and welfare check on an individual.

There was one incident of each of these offenses: burglary, residential entry, delinquency or disobedience, counterfeiting or forgery, fraud, resisting law enforcement, marijuana possession, operating a vehicle with 0.08 breath alcohol content, operating a vehicle with 0.15 breath alcohol content, operating while intoxicated, hypodermic needle stick, suspicious activity and probation violation.

Police dispatchers answered 532 calls for service in January. Officers made 79 requests for Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles information, stopped 65 vehicles, responded to 50 crashes and investigated 12 traffic and 10 parking complaints.

They also investigated 33 alarm calls, 21 suspicious activities and persons, 13 domestic problems, 12 animal complaints and seven civil disputes.

There were eight crimes against persons and five crimes against property and three reports of drunk drivers or pedestrians. Officers also dealt with seven handgun permits, four lost and found items, three vehicle repossessions, three lockouts and two solicitors.
