Batesville police officers arrested a Lawrenceburg man for possession of heroin following a traffic stop Dec. 22, according to Chief Stan Holt.
About 7:45 p.m., Patrolman Mike Manus responded to a report of an intoxicated driver exiting Interstate 74 at the Batesville exit. The officer located the vehicle in the Dairy Queen parking lot. After suspecting drugs in the vehicle, he requested Sgt. Danny Hamilton to respond with his K-9 partner, Jinx.
The dog alerted on the vehicle, and heroin was located. The driver, Jon Knowles, 39, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony. He was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail.
