---- — The Franklin County Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently made the decision to change the timing of the Alfred C. Brown Humanitarian Award process.
“The presentation of the award has been put on a two-year cycle,” reports executive director Shelly Lunsford. Therefore, foundation leaders will not host a humanitarian award dinner this fall. The next humanitarian selection will be made in summer 2014 and the dinner will be held that fall.
She emphasizes, “The Alfred C. Brown Humanitarian Award is very important to the FCCF. Mr. Brown led a life of selfless service as a citizen, soldier, Legionnaire, civic leader, businessman, educator, athlete, husband, father and grandfather. He was a great American and a true gentleman. For this reason, the FCCF is proud to present the Alfred C. Brown Humanitarian Award in honor of this true community philanthropist and humanitarian.”
The decision to change the award’s timing was made after much discussion. The board believe that this change will enhance the process by providing a larger pool of applicants and allowing more community members the opportunity to attend the event.
