Only one issue – and no candidates – will be on the ballot Tuesday, Nov. 3, in precincts of Franklin and Ripley counties within the Batesville Community School Corp. district. Voters will decide YES or NO about the referendum question concerning the four-school building and renovation project.

About 4,100 Franklin County residents in eight precincts are eligible to vote, reports clerk Marlene Flaspohler.

The locations:

• Batesville 1 and 2, Batesville High School auditorium, 24065 State Road 46;

• Butler, St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall, 17440 St. Mary’s Road, Batesville;

• Oldenburg Corp. and Ray 1, Eagle Fire Co., 3030 Pearl St., Oldenburg;

• Ray 2, St. John’s Church Community Hall, 2215 County Line Road, Enochsburg;

• Salt Creek 1, St. Anne Catholic Church, 5267 N. Hamburg Road, Oldenburg;

• Salt Creek 2, Haytown Hill Pentecostal Church of God, 9178 State Road 229, Metamora.

Just over 5,500 are eligible to cast ballots in eight Ripley County precincts, Adams 1 and 3 and Laughery 1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 3-1 and 3-2, announces clerk Ginger Bradford. They will vote at one polling place, the Batesville Knights of Columbus Hall, 624 Delaware Road.

In addition, there are still a few chances for citizens to cast absentee ballots prior to Nov. 3. Persons may vote before the Absentee Voter Board in the Franklin County Courthouse clerk’s office, Brookville, Friday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 31, and Monday, Nov. 2, from 8:30 a.m.-noon. In Ripley County, absentee hours are Friday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m.-noon; and Monday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m.-noon at the clerk’s office in the Versailles courthouse. For more information, persons can contact Bradford at 812-689-6115.

Both clerks reveal that BCSC will pay for the election costs. This will amount to about $10,000 in Ripley County, Bradford notes. Flaspohler comments that she won’t know the Franklin County election total cost until “everything is in after Election Day.”
