70 arrested at underage party
Nine law enforcement agencies responded to a large party at 607 W. Ellis Street, Milan, Friday, March 21, according to Milan Deputy Marshal Steven Noble.
About 11:45 p.m., officers received a complaint regarding several cars parked in the roadway, and residents’ yards and driveways on this street.
About 150 individuals were discovered at an underage drinking party by Milan Police Department officers, who called for assistance from the Sunman, Osgood, Batesville, Versailles and Moores Hill police departments; Indiana State Police; Ripley County Sheriff’s Office; and Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department.
Although most party-goers were found inside a large barn behind the residence, several suspects fled on foot and were apprehended a short time later, Noble reported.
Seventy persons were arrested on 76 charges, including minor consumption, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. Charges will be filed in Ripley County Superior Court.
All individuals arrested or cited were from the Cincinnati area, primarily Oak Hills High School students or alumni, according to the marshal.
