Stolen goods recovered from truck
Just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, Indiana State Police Trooper Jimmy Wells stopped a 10-foot Budget rental truck on westbound I-74 near the Sunman exit for following too closely. During his investigation, it was discovered the truck, a 2004 GMC, was reported stolen from Tennessee, said Sgt. Noel Houze, Versailles District public information officer.
Further investigation revealed the driver, Barrieann Quintero, 40 Papillion, Neb., was wanted on a fugitive warrant for fraud in Florida.
A subsequent vehicle search revealed numerous laptop computers and other electronics items from Wal-Mart stores in at least three states.
Wells has been in contact with loss prevention officials from Wal-Mart headquarters and as the investigation continues, it could lead to additional charges in Indiana and other states.
Quintero is being held in the Ripley County Jail in Versailles facing preliminary charges of receiving stolen property. The trooper was assisted at the scene by ISP Sgt. Dan Goris.
