Joe Lunsford, 65, Osgood, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at his residence.

Born Jan. 29, 1941, near St. Mary’s, he was the son of the late Charles and Ethel (Weinheimer) Lunsford. He married Lois (Wuestefeld) Lunsford, who survives.

The U.S. Army veteran was a driver for United Parcel Service. He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Rock Catholic Church and Bernard Hurst American Legion Post 44, Brookville. He assisted honor guards many times with graveside military honors for veterans.

Also surviving are two sons: Carl and Mark Lunsford, Osgood; six sisters: Rita Gramman and Emilie Market, Brookville, Alice Springman, Indianapolis, Charlene Bravard, Sister Ramona (Audrey) Lunsford and Elaine Amberger, Batesville; five brothers: Richard Lunsford, New Alsace; Ralph Lunsford, Brookville; William Lunsford, Napoleon, Arnold Lunsford, Greencastle, and Steve Lunsford, St. Mary’s; three grandchildren: Amber, Jamie and Derek Lunsford; and a friend: Nancy Pickett, Versailles.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to noon followed by the funeral officiated by the Rev. Paul Landwerlen at noon at St. Mary’s of the Rock Catholic Church. Burial is at the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion post. Memorials may be made to the grandchildren’s college tuition fund, Masses or the family for donations to favorite charities.
