---- — New Horizons, Batesville, has recently been awarded an International Organization for Standardization, Geneva, Switzerland, 9001:2008 Management Certificate in the provision of support to individuals with disabilities in southeastern Indiana for the programs of community job placement, residential services, day programs and vocational opportunities in the work program that includes packaging, assembly, sorting and other subcontracted manufacturing processes.
According to A. Joseph Falcski, the SRI Quality System Registrar’s vice president, “We are pleased to acknowledge that New Horizons Rehabilitation Inc. has demonstrated effective implementation of a management system. ISO ... certification provides evidence to customers, employees and the community of their commitment to quality in services.”
ISO 9001:2008 is a process-based certification recognizing the linking of business efficiencies with operational effectiveness. Companies with ISO certification demonstrate effective implementation of documentation and record management, management commitment to individuals receiving services, clear policy and resource management along with continued quality improvement.
Executive director Marie Dausch noted that the certification process for ISO has improved the measurement system and organizational processes of the agency. New Horizons is celebrating 45 years of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
