Donations sought for coat drive

Donations sought for coat drive

Old National Bank is hosting its first annual coat drive at the Batesville Fire Department.

“As you can imagine, this is a great, yet essential, event for our community. We are committed to providing as many coats as possible to the people in our area who are in need,” says Kelly Caudill, Old National Bank, Batesville, assistant manager.

Individuals who have gently worn coats they would like to donate can drop them off at the bank or fire department. “We would appreciate having all donations by Sept. 15, so that we have enough time to prepare them for the coat drive,” Caudill notes.

‘Hot Fail’ a finalist for the Fox Comedy Script Contest

Batesville native Tracy Weiler and Tim Drucker, a New York City-based writer/director, launched a Kickstarter site (www.kickstarter.com/projects/hotfailproject/hot-fail-pilot) April 14 to raise money to make the TV comedy pilot and they received just over the $17,500 goal by the May 14 deadline.

The partners e-mailed Aug. 22, “We are now official artists of the New York Television Festival. Our script was chosen along with 24 others to be a finalist among hundreds (maybe thousands?) of submissions. Really exciting stuff ... The awards are presented on Oct. 26 so stay tuned!”

They reported, “We are working very hard to get the pilot finished. We hit a minor speed bump this summer that set us back about eight weeks as our first editor got a job and we had to hire a new one. However, we now have a great rough cut that we are seriously proud of. To get to the finish line, we still have to do audio correction, sound effects, color correction, refined editing, graphics and music. That puts us at early November to have it done, but we are almost there.”
