Home sales are still zigzagging within Batesville school district boundaries, according to Multiple Listing Service of Southeast Indiana data analyzed by Countryside Realty broker Jim Dreyer.
Sales in December 2012 were $1.8 million (10 homes sold) compared to $503,000 (two homes) in December 2011.
Total 2012 sales were $18.7 million, 24.8 percent ahead of 2011’s $15 million. That means 108 homes sold last year compared to 82 in 2011.
Sales in January were $1.1 million, down 39 percent from $1.8 million in January 2012. Eight homes sold in each of those months.
He pointed out, “With the exception of 2012, this January was substantially higher than the previous five years.”
The number of homes listed for sale rose to 68 from 60 at the end of December. It would take 7.6 months to sell all active listings, Dreyer estimated.
The broker said, “I know many of you are reading about housing prices rising in various parts of the country. I have not seen any indication that we are experiencing any increase in home values in Batesville. It appears prices hit bottom several months ago, but nothing to suggest we are seeing any increases.”
