Lowery named chairman

---- — The chairs and members of the 11 Indiana Regional Works Councils were recently announced by Gov. Mike Pence.

Chris Lowery, Hillenbrand Inc. public policy and engagement director, will chair the Indiana Region 9 Works Council.

The Batesville resident, who has worked at Hillenbrand in a variety of capacities for 19 years, previously served as the Association of Indiana Counties executive director, aide to former Indiana Gov. Robert D. Orr and aide to then-Sen. Dan Quayle. He serves as the Batesville Community School Corp. board of trustees president and was a founder of the Batesville Community Education Foundation. He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University.

Other Region 9 council members are Melissa Ferry, Jesse Brand, Lawrence Garatoni, Jan Holm, Kathleen Huffman, Steven Mackey, Marilyn Metzler, Rebecca Reeves, James Riggs, Sue Smith, Bradley Street and John Burnett.
