William Dempsey has been elected to the Hill-Rom Holdings Inc. board of directors.
He serves as a director of Landauer Inc., Nordion Inc. and Hospira, Inc. and previously held various executive positions with Abbott Laboratories, including global pharmaceuticals executive vice president, pharmaceutical operations senior vice president and international operations senior vice president, reported Larry Baumann, Hill-Rom global communications executive director.
He also previously served as chairman of the international section of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and as chairman of the Accelerating Access Initiative, a cooperative public-private partnership of UNAIDS, the World Bank and six research-based pharmaceutical companies.
“Bill has a wealth of experience in the health care industry that will further strengthen our board,” said Rolf Classon, Hill-Rom board chairman. “His broad senior level executive, international and operational experience will serve our shareholders and board well.”
Dempsey is also a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Chicago, and the board of trustees for the Guadalupe Center, Immokalee, Fla. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from DePaul University.
