---- — “The Southeast Indiana Small Business Development Center, New Albany, had a record-breaking year, surpassing some metrics of entire statewide SBDCs,” according to regional director Blayr Barnard in an e-mailed weekly update.
“We have been able to secure financing of over $124.9 million for 71 southeast Indiana businesses,” she reported. “We have helped our clients start 67 new businesses and helped an additional 150 decide that the market didn’t support their ideas.” Over 451 new jobs were recorded.
In 2013 SISBDC consultants also assisted with 14 business expansions and helped businesses retain 2,981 jobs. In all, 741 clients were served. Barnard said, “We have worked over 3,200 hours in strategic planning, market research, financial analysis, business plan preparation, search engine optimization, government contracting, exporting, and the list goes on.”
She summarized, “In 2013, the Southeast ISBDC exceeded all 2013 goals, some by almost 2,000 percent.
