Roberts named new director

Susan Roberts is the new Chateau of Batesville executive director.

The health facility administrator has over 20 years of experience in long-term care and assisted living management. She moved from the LaPorte area about a year ago to assist in the care of her own aging parents. She settled in Shelbyville and was excited when the opportunity arose to oversee the management of the Chateau, a state licensed assisted living community.

She shares, “I have a passion for our aging population and a desire to make a difference in their lives. I am a very hands-on kind of administrator and am at my best when I am in the ‘thick of things’ with our residents.”

In Roberts’ early years, she was an activity director, so doing fun things with the residents is important to her. Her favorite event is “What’s Cooking with Susan,” an activity where the residents come together and prepare their homemade meal. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our seniors to brush up on their cooking skills and to interact with others who enjoy cooking,” she says.
