Scholarship Deadline

Nora E. Wonning Scholarship Trust Fund first-year and renewal applications are available from Batesville High School and Oldenburg Academy guidance counselors’ offices  and due to BHS principal Sherri Preston  by 4 p.m. April 19.

Library Happenings

The Greensburg-Decatur County Public Library will sponsor a Web Junk-a-thon for grades 6-12 April 19, 6 p.m. Info: 812-663-2826.

Campaign Finance

Reports Due

April 20 by noon is the deadline for a primary election candidate’s committee and regular political party committees to file preprimary campaign finance reports with the Franklin County Clerk’s Office. Info: 765-647-5111, Ext. 3.

Whitewater River

Valley Preservation

Dr. Thomas Carter will give a free chat on “A Fieldworker’s Tale: Preserving the Architecture and History of the Whitewater River Valley” April 20, 7 p.m., Whitewater Valley Gateway Park’s Brookville Depot, Metamora.

Application Deadline

The East Indiana Area Health Education Center and Margaret Mary Community Hospital are offering a seven week Medical Scholars Academy for high school juniors and seniors and college freshman and sophomores. Cost: $100. Applications, available at www.eiahec.org or www.mmch.org, are due by April 20.

“On Our Way”

Auditions

Auditions for the Rural Alliance for the Arts community musical “On Our Way” are April 20, 6-9 p.m., and April 21, 8:30 a.m.-noon, Batesville High School music room. Children at least 6 through mature adults will be cast. Auditioners will read and possibly dance and should bring a short song to sing. Show dates are June 23-24 and June 29-30. License Plate Meet

A license plate meet will be held April 21, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Hamburg Knights of St. John hall. Info: Glenn Bailey, 812-663-3632.

Covered Bridge

Run/Walk

The Covered Bridge Run/Walk is April 21, 8:30 a.m., Batesville High School. Hosted by Team Batesville, the 10-mile route takes participants to and from the covered bridge near Enochsburg.  There also are 5K or 10K options. Cost is $5 by April 13 or $10 after. Registration forms are available at www.mmch.org or by calling 934-4384.
