Used Book Sale

The Friends of Batesville Memorial Public Library will have their used book and media sale March 7-9, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., library annex, 10 W. Boehringer St. The $2 per bag sale starts Saturday, 3 p.m. Friends members can shop early March 7 at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds help pay for library materials and programs.

Fish Fry

St. Martin’s Church, Yorkville, will have a fish fry March 8, 4:30-7 p.m.

Fish Fry

St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, Bright, will have a fish fry March 8, 4:30-7:30 p.m., parish community center. Carryouts available. Cost: adults, $8; children, $4; under 3, free.

After Hours Concert

As part of the Batesville Memorial Public Library’s After Hours Concert Series, Batesville High School’s Sport Coat Jazz Explosion and Batesville Steel will perform March 8, 7 p.m., Batesville Middle School Commons. Free admission. Info: www.ebatesville.com/library/after.html or 934-4706.

Saturday, March 9

Large Item Pickup

On March 9, Batesville offers curbside pickup of large items from residents’ homes starting at 5 a.m. Acceptable items: clothing; furniture, bedsprings and mattresses; rugs and carpet pieces; rubber hose; appliances; wood, bundled 4 feet or shorter, 75 pounds maximum; insulation; cans and buckets, totally cleaned and dry; paint cans containing dried paint only. Refrigerators, air-conditioning units and freezers  must have stickers showing chlorofluorocarbons were removed. Info: 933-6100.

Toy and Clothing Sale

The Sunman Tiger People at Work for Students will host  a children’s toy and clothing sale March 9, 8 a.m.-noon, Sunman Elementary School.

OFC Program

Women’s Day: Women of Beauty will be presented March 9, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Oldenburg Franciscan Center. Cost: $45, includes lunch. Info and reservations: 933-6437 or center@oldenburgosf.com.

4-H Beef Weigh-in

The Franklin County 4-H Beef ID and Weigh-in is March 9, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 4-H fairgrounds cattle barn, Brookville. Info: 765-647-3511.

Chicken Dinner

The Batesville Knights of Columbus will host a chicken dinner March 9, 5-8 p.m. Carryouts available. Proceeds go to Oldenburg Academy Students in Sports.

Steak Fry and Dance

Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271 will host a steak fry and dance March 9. Social hour, 6-7 p.m. Cost: $15. Info: John Baumer, 812-216-7710.

“The Legend of Johnny Cash”

“The Legend of Johnny Cash,” starring Philip Bauer and presented by the Rural Alliance for the Arts, is March 9, 8 p.m., Batesville High School auditorium. To purchase reserved-seat tickets ($20 for preferred seating, $16 for adults, $10 for students, $2 discounts for RAA members): 933-0355. Tickets also will be available at the door.
