Historical Society

The Franklin County Historical Society  will meet Oct. 15, 6 p.m. dinner, Goldfinch Restaurant, Brookville. Julie Schlesselman will discuss “Life Through Journals in Franklin County” and election of officers. RSVP for $13 chicken buffet dinner by Oct. 12: Martha Shea, 765-647-5182.

BMS Musical

The Batesville Middle School musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” is Oct. 12-13, 7 p.m., Batesville High School auditorium. Ticket prices, which include desserts and drinks, are $9 for preferred seating and $6 for regular seating. Tickets may be purchased at the BMS office or from Carol Bergman, 934-5175.

“Enchanted April”

The Rural Alliance for the Arts presents the play “Enchanted April” Oct. 5 and Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 6 and Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m., RomWeber Marketplace. Friday tickets cost $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Tickets for Saturday shows, which include a grilled chicken dinner by the Brau Haus, are $25 and $30. Reservations: 933-0355.

Murder Mystery

“In the Wake of the Star,” a murder mystery dinner theater presented by the Central House Players, is Oct. 12, 7 p.m.; and Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m., Napoleon Community Center. Cost: advance tickets, $15, at Bonaparte’s Retreat, Napoleon; at the door, $18. Proceeds go toward the upkeep of the Central House. RSVPs required: Pat Hicks, 812-852-4818.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

The Fall Household Hazardous Waste Disposal for Franklin County is Oct. 13, 8-10 a.m., Franklin County Recycling/Reuse Center, 13042 U.S. Highway 52, Metamora. Info: www.siswd.com.

The Franklin County United Way Day of Caring is Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.   Persons who could use some assistance with yardwork or small household jobs or who would like to nominate a recipient or volunteer may contact United Way at 765-647-2789.

Walk to Remember

A Walk to Remember for families who have lost babies through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death is Oct. 13, 10 a.m., Holy Family Catholic Church Garden of Innocence, Oldenburg.

Pet Vaccination Clinic

The Franklin County Humane Society vaccination clinic is Oct. 13, 1-4 p.m., Brookville fairgrounds. Costs vary for dog and cat vaccines, flea and tick prevention  and micro chips. Credit and debit cards, but no  checks. A cash discount is offered. Info: 765-647-1444.
