Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is Oct. 5-6, St. Joseph American Legion Post 464, St. Leon. Friday, 5-8 p.m., fish fry, karaoke; Saturday, 4 p.m., chicken dinners; 5:30 p.m., grilled pork chop dinners; 6:45 p.m., pie auction; both days, games, food, music. All proceeds go to fund American Legion programs and community activities.

 

Oct. 5-6, Oct. 12-13

“Enchanted April”

The Rural Alliance for the Arts presents the play “Enchanted April” Oct. 5 and Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 6 and Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m., RomWeber Marketplace. Friday tickets cost $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Tickets for Saturday shows, which include a grilled chicken dinner by the Brau Haus, are $25 and $30. Reservations: 933-0355.

 

Saturday, Oct. 6

Masonic Breakfast

Batesville Masonic Lodge 668 will serve a monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast Oct. 6, 6-10 a.m. Minimum donation: adults, $5; children 6-12, $3; under 6, free. Takeout orders: 934-3144.

Fear Factory

Fear Factory is open on four Saturdays: Oct. 6 (lights on), 1-3 p.m.; Oct. 13, 10 p.m., last tour at midnight; Oct. 20 and Oct. 27, 7-10 p.m., RomWeber Marketplace, enter on Depot Street. Admission $5. Proceeds benefit Cierra’s Club.

Concert Series

Jazz pianist Dave Hepler, Indianapolis, performs a free show as part of the Batesville Memorial Public Library After Hours Concert Series Oct. 6, 7 p.m.

 

Sunday, Oct. 7

Holy Family Festival

The Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg, festival is Oct. 7. Chicken and roast beef dinners, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cost: adults, $10; children, $6. Evening meal, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; lunch stand, raffles, games.

CROP Walk

The Ripley County CROP Walk to aid the hungry is Oct. 7, 1:30 p.m.,  St. John’s United Church of Christ, Huntersville. Info: www. cropwalk.org. To receive a registration packet: the Rev. Juanita Wallpe, 934-3497.

 

Wednesday, Oct. 10

Blood Drive

St. Louis Catholic Church is sponsoring a community blood drive Oct. 10, noon-5:30 p.m., Knights of Columbus hall. No appointments taken. Info: Anita Brelage, 934-3095.

Card Party

The St. Anne’s Ladies Sodality is sponsoring a card party  Oct. 10, 1-4:30 p.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Morris, lower hall.
