Friday, Sept. 21

Homecoming Parade

The Batesville High School Homecoming Parade is Sept. 21, 5 p.m. Lineup is at 4:30 p.m. in front of Batesville Intermediate School on Columbus Avenue. The parade will turn south on Mulberry Street, east on Catherine Street, north on Main Street, west on West Pearl Street, ending at Columbus and Mulberry.

Brookville

After Hours

Music on Main and Brookville After Hours is Sept. 21, 6-10 p.m. Free cookout, music and bake sale, Main Street; three baseball games between police and firefighters, 7 p.m., Brookville Town Park.

Concert for Recovery

A Concert for Recovery presented by Stayin’ Alive, Franklin County’s Local Coordinating Council,  is Sept. 21, 7 p.m., Main Street Park, Brookville, next to the Franklin County Community Foundation office. It will  honor individuals and families who are in mental and/or substance use disorders recovery.

Youth Leadership

Program

The Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service Five-County Learn to Serve Youth Leadership Program is open to youth in grades 9-11 in Franklin, Fayette,  Rush, Union and Wayne counties. The program runs from September to March and consists of an overnight retreat and monthly sessions. Applications and recommendations are due Sept. 21. Train Ride

A Cincinnati Railway Co. one-hour-and-40-minute ride from Liberty Park to Greensburg and back is Sept. 23, 12:15 p.m. Tickets cost $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and children. A benefit for Tom Habig, who has been in and out of the hospital since December following a partial lung removal for a resistant fungal infection, will be held Sept. 29, 5-10 p.m., Batesville Knights of Columbus hall. Silent auction, 5-7 p.m.; fried chicken/roast beef dinner, 6 p.m.; Now and Then Band dance 7-10 p.m. Freewill offering. Proceeds go toward medical and transportation expenses.
