“The Birthplace of Professional Baseball”

Greg Rhoads, Cincinnati Reds historian, will hold a free class, “The Birthplace of Professional Baseball,” March 15, 5 p.m., Batesville Memorial Public Library.

 

Friday, March 16

Fish Fry

St. Martin Catholic Church, Yorkville, is holding a fish fry March 16, 4:30-7 p.m.

Bluegrass Family Night

Bluegrass Family Night features Lost and Found Band and All American Bluegrass Band March 16, 6 p.m., Whitewater Valley Gateway Park, Metamora. Admission: $15. Doors open at 4 p.m. for $7 dinner.

Dance

The St. Louis Mission Team is sponsoring an adult dance with music by DJ Tunes March 16, 7-11 p.m., Batesville Knights of Columbus hall. Cost: $5. Tickets available at the door. Cash bar, split the pot. All proceeds go toward cost of mission trip.

 

Saturday, March 17

5K Walk/Run

The Batesville Music Boosters Sham-Rockin’ 5K Walk/Run is March 17, 9:30 a.m., Batesville Middle School. The registration fee is $15 ($2 more for an XXL T-shirt) if postmarked by March 7 and $18 on race day, when registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Registration forms are available at www. Super Bingo

A $5,000 Super Bingo will be held March 17, Sunman American Legion. Doors open at 2 p.m. Roast beef dinner, 3-5 p.m.; Early bird games, 5:30 p.m.; regular games, 6 p.m. Cost: $35, includes 14 regular games, four special games and dinner. Info: 812-623-2972.

Chicken Dinner

The Batesville Knights of Columbus are hosting a chicken dinner March 17, 5-8 p.m. Proceeds benefit Oldenburg Academy Students in Sports Athletic Boosters Club. Info: 934-2729.

Breakfast

A breakfast will be held March 18, 7 a.m.-noon, Holy Family Catholic Church cafeteria. Proceeds support all Religious education programs.

The Batesville Knights of St. John will host a breakfast March 18, 8 a.m.-noon. Freewill offering. Proceeds benefit Gibault School. Info: 934-2729.

Paddle Auction

The Project T3 Paddle Auction is March 18, 2:30 p.m., Sherman House. Tickets at $15 include a light lunch, dessert, tea or coffee and one paddle. Proceeds will help area foster children and others in need. Info or to purchase tickets: Lisa Haessig, 934-2585.
