Eureka Band

Concert

The second of four Batesville Eureka Band concerts is July 20, 8 p.m., Liberty Park Bandstand. Also July 27 and Aug. 3.

 

Fri.-Sat., July 20-21

4-H Fair

The Franklin County 4-H Fair concludes July 21, Brookville  fairgrounds. Exhibits,  grandstand events, entertainment, games, carnival rides, food.

Napoleon Fire Fest

The Napoleon Firemen’s Annual Picnic is July 20-21. Friday, 5 p.m., fried chicken, steak sandwiches, music by Keith Swinney; Saturday, 5 p.m., mock turtle soup; both days, 7-11 p.m., Texas hold’em poker tournament, beer garden, bingo, raffle.

Freudenfest

Oldenburg’s Freudenfest will be held July 20, beginning at 5 p.m. and July 21, beginning at 7 a.m. Friday: live auction, 7 p.m.; Freuden Meister contest, 9 p.m.; Saturday: breakfast, 7 a.m.; veterans dedication, 2 p.m.; pie auction, 4 p.m.; 5K Oldenburg Lauf, 6:30 p.m.; Both days: games, food, live entertainment, contests, beer garden. Veterans Tribute

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute with keynote speaker Sammy L. Davis, U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, is July 21, 1 p.m., South Ripley High School gym, Versailles. Now through July 22, 3 p.m., persons can view an 80 percent replica of the Vietnam Memorial plus other panels that  pay tribute to all veterans, Sept. 11 victims,  firefighters and police at the Southeastern Career Center, Versailles.

Book Sale

Friends of the Greensburg-Decatur County Public Library are sponsoring a book sale July 20-21, 9 a.m., and July 22, 1 p.m. Info: 812-663-2826.

Large Item Pickup

On July 21, Batesville offers curbside pickup of large items from residents’ homes starting at 5 a.m. Acceptable items: clothing; furniture, bedsprings and mattresses; rugs and carpet pieces; rubber hose; appliances; wood, bundled 4 feet or shorter, 75 pounds maximum; insulation; cans and buckets, totally cleaned and dry; paint cans containing dried paint only. Refrigerators, air-conditioning units and freezers  must have stickers showing chlorofluorocarbons were removed. Info: 933-6100.
