Concert

4-H Fair

The Franklin County 4-H Fair concludes July 21, Brookville  fairgrounds. Exhibits,  grandstand events, entertainment, games, carnival rides, food.

Napoleon Fire Fest

The Napoleon Firemen’s Annual Picnic is July 20-21. Friday, 5 p.m., fried chicken, steak sandwiches, music by Keith Swinney; Saturday, 5 p.m., mock turtle soup; both days, 7-11 p.m., Texas hold’em poker tournament, beer garden, bingo, raffle.

Freudenfest

Veterans Tribute

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute with keynote speaker Sammy L. Davis, U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, is July 21, 1 p.m., South Ripley High School gym, Versailles. Now through July 22, 3 p.m., persons can view an 80 percent replica of the Vietnam Memorial plus other panels that  pay tribute to all veterans, Sept. 11 victims,  firefighters and police at the Southeastern Career Center, Versailles.

Large Item Pickup

On July 21, Batesville offers curbside pickup of large items from residents’ homes starting at 5 a.m. Acceptable items: clothing; furniture, bedsprings and mattresses; rugs and carpet pieces; rubber hose; appliances; wood, bundled 4 feet or shorter, 75 pounds maximum; insulation; cans and buckets, totally cleaned and dry; paint cans containing dried paint only. Refrigerators, air-conditioning units and freezers  must have stickers showing chlorofluorocarbons were removed. Info: 933-6100.

Car Wash

The Batesville High School boys soccer team is sponsoring a car wash July 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., behind McDonald’s. Proceeds go toward purchasing equipment.

Twister Lauf 5K

He has traveled to over 200 countries and will share photos from Burma, Laos, Iran, Bhutan, Antarctica and beyond.   Author/editor Father Jack Wintz, OFM, will be available for book signings at intermission.
