Saturday, April 28

Fishing Derby

The New Alsace Conservation Club’s 24th annual fishing derby is April 28, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Lake in the Pines, New Alsace. Registration begins at 6 a.m. Prizes awarded. Info: Dale Back, 812-623-2431 or dback@ nalu.net.

Absentee Voting

Opening Day

The grand opening of the Batesville baseball/softball complex is April 28. A 10:30 a.m. parade begins at the parking lot across from Weigel Funeral Home on George Street and will go southwest on Main Street, southeast on Catherine Street, south on Park Avenue and east on Pohlman Avenue to the fields. Then an opening ceremony, including a time capsule, ribbon cutting and balloon launch, takes place at the complex. Special guest is the Cincinnati Reds mascot, Mr. Redlegs. Games start at 1 p.m. In case of rain/storms, the opening ceremonies will be held at Liberty Park pavilion.

Meet and Greet

A meet and greet for District 6 candidate Luke Messer is April 28, 10-11:30 a.m., Cross Roads Restaurant, Versailles.

Chili Supper

A chili supper sponsored by the Indiana State Police Respect for Law Camp will be held April 28, 5-8 p.m., Osgood Fire Department. Freewill donation.

Battle of the Bands

The Batesville Music Boosters Battle of the Bands is April 28, 7-11 p.m., Batesville Middle School old gym. Cost: $5. Proceeds help support Batesville High School music programs.

Absentee Voting

Deadline

Monday, April 30, by 11:59 p.m. is the deadline for the Franklin County clerk to receive a mailed, e-mailed, hand-delivered or facsimile transmitted absentee ballot application from a voter who requests to vote by mail. Info: 765-647-5111, Ext. 3.

Gift Certificate Deadline

WWII Discussion Group

Driver’s Ed Registration

Garden Workshop

Basketball

“Sing We All Together”

A weeklong choir workshop for students entering grades 3-12 is July 16-20, 9 a.m.-noon, Batesville United Methodist Church. Public performance, July 21, Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg.
