Saturday, Jan. 4

Batesville curbside pickup of large items from residents’ homes is Jan. 4 starting at 5 a.m. Acceptable items: clothing; furniture, bedsprings and mattresses; rugs and carpet pieces; rubber hose; appliances; wood, bundled 4 feet or shorter, 75 pounds maximum; insulation; cans and buckets, totally cleaned and dry; paint cans containing dried paint only. Refrigerators, air-conditioning units and freezers must have stickers showing chlorofluorocarbons were removed. Info: 933-6100.

Auditions for “Marry me a Little,” the Tree County Players, Greensburg, next production, are Jan. 4, 9 a.m.-noon, Decatur County Courthouse Room 106. Enter through north door facing Washington Street. Audition appointments recommended: Jim Powell, 812-593-7235. Show dates are Feb. 14-15.

Sunday, Jan. 5

The Batesville Knights of St. John Commandery 243 will serve a breakfast Jan. 5, 7:30 a.m.-noon, Vine Street hall. Freewill donation. Partial proceeds go to St. Louis School.

A stillboard shoot, sponsored by Sons of the American Legion, will be Jan. 5, 11 a.m., Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271, 2899 E. Legion Road. Info: 934-2228.

Area singers will present a concert of well-known composer Pepper Choplin’s music, led by Choplin, Jan. 5, 6-7:30 p.m., Holy Family Catholic Church. The event is sponsored by Batesville United Methodist Church and Rural Alliance for the Arts. A freewill offering will be taken for the Batesville food pantry.

The Red Hat Belles of Batesville will meet Jan. 8, noon, Wagner’s Village Inn, Oldenburg. RSVP by Jan. 5: 934-3484. Also, $10 dues are payable to The Red Hat Belles and mailed to Katy Hortemiller, 9 Ash Hill Court, Batesville, IN 47006.

Monday, Jan. 6

The Batesville Casket Co. Retirees Party Jan. 6 has been cancelled due to restaurant remodeling. The group will meet Feb. 3, 11:30 a.m. lunch, Osgood Grub Co. Info: Mary Demaree, 812-614-0901.
