Batesville curbside pickup of large items from residents’ homes is Jan. 4 starting at 5 a.m. Acceptable items: clothing; furniture, bedsprings and mattresses; rugs and carpet pieces; rubber hose; appliances; wood, bundled 4 feet or shorter, 75 pounds maximum; insulation; cans and buckets, totally cleaned and dry; paint cans containing dried paint only. Refrigerators, air-conditioning units and freezers must have stickers showing chlorofluorocarbons were removed. Info: 933-6100.

The Batesville Knights of St. John Commandery 243 will serve a breakfast Jan. 5, 7:30 a.m.-noon, Vine Street hall. Freewill donation. Partial proceeds go to St. Louis School.

Area singers will present a concert of well-known composer Pepper Choplin’s music, led by Choplin, Jan. 5, 6-7:30 p.m., Holy Family Catholic Church. The event is sponsored by Batesville United Methodist Church and Rural Alliance for the Arts. A freewill offering will be taken for the Batesville food pantry.

Registration forms for Batesville High School’s spring driver education program will be available in the main office beginning Jan. 6. They are due by Jan. 17, and are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. A mandatory meeting for all students and parents is Jan. 22, 7 p.m., BHS cafeteria.
